History

In 1871 St. Eiltín’s National School was established for boys and girl. The school building was finished in 1878 and was located a short distance away from here in Loughanes. It served the community with great dedication in difficult times, producing such luminaries as Maurice Walsh, author of the "Quiet Man" and "The Key above the door"

In 1983 the old school was replaced by a larger, more modern school on a two acre site.  This school building catered for 5 class teachers, a resource room, an office and a staff room. The school was updated in 2016 with the provision of new automatic doors and also two accessibility ramps.

The school received Departmental funding to extend the school. This was completed in 2017, adding a new classroom, new multipurpose room and providing space for two new resource rooms, as well as adding a new universal access wetroom.

In January 2018 the school yard was resurfaced, providing a new yard for the children to play on.

Lisselton N.S. is dedicated to the provision of the best possible education for all of its children in a safe and conducive environment and in accordance with the primary school curriculum.
